Avoid Spring Water Damage In Denver

Avoiding Spring Water Damage In Denver explained by Anne VanNatta.

Today I would like to go over a few ideas to help keep everyone’s home dry and to prevent needing a company like Dry Right LLC.
It is spring! The temptation to turn on your sprinkler system to water the grass is at an all-time high. If you turn the sprinkler system on before the last freeze, drain anything that is above ground to prevent pipes from freezing and bursting.

If you hand water your grass and trees, be sure to disconnect the hose from the hose bib when you are done. — We had one customer on a beautiful spring day last year — watered her garden and grass all day long. When she came in at night discovered she had been watering her basement all day as well!

What do your gutters look like? Spring is a great time to clean your gutters and down spouts before they clog and cause damage to your home. Please do this before the April showers that bring May flowers. Because when it rains cats and dogs… the gutters get clogged!

One last thing to think about at this time of year, is whether or not your sump pump is ready for the spring rains and snow melt. To test your sump pump, slowly pour several gallons of water into the sump pit. The float should rise and the pump turn on. The water level should go down rapidly and the float should trigger it to shut off. You may need to replace the float if it doesn’t work like this. Check your owner’s manual for complete instructions for testing and maintenance. Test your pump every few months, especially after a long dry season or before a rainy one.

The most important part to a water loss is a quick and thorough mitigation of the damaged structure to prevent any further secondary damage. With our RAPID RESPONSE TEAM we arrive at most residences within 45 minutes of receiving your call from anywhere across the entire Denver Metro Area.

While each water loss is different, Dry Right has a full understanding of how water affects and travels through a structure. This knowledge, partnered with the latest in water detection technologies, enables us to quickly isolate the source of the loss as well as determine how the surrounding structure and floors were affected. We are then able to formulate a plan of attack to mitigate the water damage and return your home to its pre-loss condition as quickly as possible.
